NASCAR, Toyota and M&Ms should take heed. All their logos are prominently displayed here. Blow that up, put it on a billboard on I-85, and it's sure to cause a stir. Maybe even cause some to think behind the wheel. It certainly does not reflect well on NASCAR, Toyota, or M&Ms. But, by the time D.W. finishes with it this weekend, Kyle will be walking across Lake Lloyd carrying a full pardon from the North Carolina Govenor.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

It has always (with a couple of exceptions) been the "bad boys" of racing who sell the tickets. Love them or hate them (there's both sides of the fence), fans will buy tickets to either see them win or see them get beat. Furthermore, I suspect there are very few race fans who have not exceeded the speed limit on public roads. If you've never intentionally done that, you probably shouldn't be a race fan.

THIS JUST IN: It has been disclosed by law enforcement this morning that approximately 60 seconds before encountering the radar, Kyle Busch was texting Mike Helton for a definition ofprobation. No word on whether or not Mike responded. Also learned that the officer who stopped Kyle had watched the Darlington Southern 500 and carefully parked BEHIND Kyle to prevent another Kevin Harvick pushing incident. I also understand Kyle asked the officer as he walked up the car "do you know who I am?". The officer replied "you're the one who I'm giving this ticket to". Realizing he was going to lose that argument, Kyle asked if he could increase the charge to 198 in a 45 since the Lexus was supposed to top at 200 and Kyle didn't want the folks in Tokoyo to think he wasn't giving it his all.

Maybe Childress should consider replacing Harvick with that officer who caught Kyle!

The artist's depiction of Kyle is off, but the logo's are dead-on. Although "he can drive....", Kyle Busch is a loose cannon, and that's one of the reasons he's no longer at Hendrick. This incident is eerily similar to that of Rob Moroso, only the ending is different. It is, what it is, but NASCAR's stance is the most curios of all. For all of their total dependence on corporate America, and the constant effort to homogenize stock car racing into the American psyche, the lack of a stern NASCAR-response is puzzling.

So, are you saying NASCAR should just fire Kyle Busch............tell him to find employment with some other racing organization? All that would do is create more empty seats. Like him or not, he is still one of the most talented and competitive drivers on the NASCAR tracks, and there are many fans who like his style of driving and desire to win races. BTW, does anyone remember when Tony Stewart got stopped for doing 100 mph in a Ferrari and the officer asked for his autograph?

If NASCAR fines drivers for "Tweeting" negatively.......just seems a disconnect to brush a 128 in a 45 mph zone under the rug.

So, selling tickets and "being one of the most talented and competitive drivers on the NASCAR tracks........." absolves everything? And where, or what, other sanctioning body would he GO TO? Hmm? UARA STARS or the PASS Series or ARCA or Indy Cars? Nada. Zilch. ZERO. Not a snowball's chance of that happening. Although he admitted to "getting a little carried away........" KB was counting on his elevated status. He did not "mistakingly" drive three times the speed limit, and the fact he's a race car driver has nothing to do with anything. This case is scheduled for the NC court system in July, and we'll see if they cave in too....to prevent the proliferation of empty seat syndrome.

Dave, that post about Childress replacing Harvick with the cop is one of the greatest posts ever.

Wish I had thought of that!!!!! I know where the brain talent is now for sure!.

Bobby, I hadn't thought of Rob Moroso in a long time, until you mentioned him. Around '87-'88 I was ghost writing all of the Oldsmobile NASCAR press materials, as well as handling projects for Crown Petroleum. Robby was a really young, rebellious kid who had no mother in his life and resented dad, Dick's authority. He was very talented, but so antsy and never wanting to be still for one minute. It was difficult to get him to spend an hour or two trying to get in-depth information for story material. Let's hope the ending with kyle continues to turn out differently. Both are (were) tremendously talented drivers. I think of Dale Earnhardt going to Bud Moore's team in 1982. Trust me, Kyle could use a good dose of Bud Moore.

Exactly, Dave. Nobody questions the talent of Kyle Busch, he's already had a fantastic career, and his future is even brighter...if he don't derail his own destiny. He really needs a mentor, and to fully understand that NASCAR has been in business for over 60 years, most of them without Kyle Busch. It may be hard tmes, but he needs them a lot more than the other way around.

I would never say Kyle Busch should not be punished for breaking the law. He should suffer the same consequences as any other citizen who committed the same offense. I'm only saying that NASCAR has no jurisdiction on North Carolina public roads and shouldn't mete out additional punishment to whatever the NC court system determines. The fact that he is a race car driver should have nothing to do with whatever punishment the state of NC hands down.

I don't think NASCAR should fine a driver for "Tweeting" negatively...............but NASCAR has done many things that I either didn't agree with or thought was a bad idea.

Yeah, PK............didn't mean to turn a lighthearted discussion into something else. I prefer the lighthearted types, anyway. I say it is what it is - let the state handle it.
