Childress Punches Kyle Busch?

Childress-Busch altercation draws NASCAR's attention

NASCAR officials are investigating a physical altercation involving team owner Richard Childress and driver Kyle Busch in the garage area following Saturdays Truck series race at Kansas Speedway. According to a member of a Truck team who asked not to be identified, Childress took off his jewelry before approaching Busch in the garage area and struck him with his fist. The two were separated, traded insults and then Childress grabbed Busch in a headlock and struck him again before the incident was broken up. The crew member said Childress initiated the incident. Officials with Busch's team and Richard Childress Racing declined to comment on the incident. Sara Peters, the wife of Truck series driver, Timothy Peters, posted a message on her Facebook account indicating Childress had struck Busch after the race. The post was quickly removed. The cause of Childress frustration was likely tied to the end of the race, during which one of Childress drivers, Joey Coulter, and Busch bumped each other while battling for fifth place on the final lap. Coulter finished in that position, but on the cool-down lap, Busch ran into the right side of Coulters truck. I learned a ton (riding) behind (Busch) and I know why those guys keep saying what they do. That was really awesome racing him, Coulter said after the race. I hate we got together on the last lap. I had never gotten tight next to somebody, so I was underneath him expecting to get loose, and I get tight and we kind of got together. In interviews on pit road, in the media center or on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio following the race, Coulter indicated no animosity. Busch and Childress Sprint Cup driver, Kevin Harvick, were both placed on probation following a post-race incident on pit road at Darlington, S.C., last month. What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

First a speeding ticket, now this. Hes not going to look too good in court. My take, I am surprised this has not happened sooner. The one thing I cannot stand is how Kyle just uses the Nationwide Series and Truck Series to beat around others. Then when he cannot win, he pulls these cheapshots after a race and throws tantrums when he cannot win. Whats pathetic is he was all upset over finishing 5th. He cannot win em all and even if he won in the Truck Series, hes not running for the Championship and no one would care anyways. The other thing I cannot stand is Kyle races rough and yet when someone races him just as rough in return he is a big baby about it. Childress I am sure explained to Kyle, stop wrecking my equipment. This had been going on for quite some time and Childress just snapped. Not justifying his actions. However Kyle's ego, his disrespect and disregard for others are unacceptable.

A question comes to my mind, as it has before, about what kind of parents the Busch parents are. Was it not Kurt who got stopped in Phoenix, or maybe Las Vegas, and had the audacity to ask the officer "do you know who I am?". that is not a joke, check the official report on that. Was it not Kurt who was the most belligerent, rude, and know-it-all driver to come into the sport in a long time the first few years he was around? Has it not been Kyle who has now, time after time, embarrassed the sport? It is no small wonder you never see even D.W. trying to interview Mr. and Mrs. Busch. It is for certain those two will never be nominated for parents of the year, the month, the day, or even the hour on this planet. It is proof positive, from the two off spring they produced, that stopping at two was a very, very good idea and a great thing for the rest of the world.

if you remember back a few years Richard would tumble with you in a heartbeat, Tim you should remember those days. Anyway Richard went in the ring loaded for bear,he unloaded all his jewelery before the meeting of the minds,did I say minds? more like a pro boxer up against a swimmer . But Richard came out with the higher score card at least on hits scored.

I look at the Busch Bros. from the position that Tim has stated. Parenting...If it has nothing to do with the way that these guys were raised then what has caused such arrogance? It certainly reflects badly toward the parents...Shoulda, coulda, woulda kicked their butts...Hello Tom?

I would think that it would be a proud moment to say that both my sons were professional Nascar drivers, and a sickening moment not to want to say which two...What a shame. Or at least it would be for me.

Nascar probation, please!

If this really happened this way , I say that in this case punishment served first equals deserved justice for all victims, past and present. You had it coming Kyle...You wuz beggin' fer it little man.

Congratulations to R.C. for finally showing Kyle (and B.F.Jr.) what a real racer will do with your butt when he has had enough of your stupidity...Heck ,I bet it even made Mr. Hendrick crack a smile.

Again, thank you Richard Childress as you have elevated my level of respect for you to an even higher degree...Never thought I would say that in this type situation but,... it was Kyle!!!! OOOOHRAH!

Kurt and Kyle both exhibit pompous, careless, reckless, and discourteous attitudes in 99% of their actions. Kurt has calmed somewhat but having said that, remember the radio transmissions with his crew at Richmond. Are you of the opinion that these two rude men are the product of the education system in Nevada? I think not. But, I respect your right to your opinion however wrong you may be.

Speeding ticket and court appearance have nothing to do with this situation.

I am not defending either Kyle or Richard in this situation - not taking sides, as I believe both of them are very good at what they do. I do not believe the slight contact between Kyle and Coulter on the track after the truck race is what caused the situation - I believe it goes back further than that and involves more than justthat single incident. Regardless of what caused it or what the final outcome is, this is another example of the type of publicity that NASCAR needs in order to put more warm bodies in the grandstand seats. Since we now live in the "information technology" age, this is a whole different environment compared to the early - and even middle - years of stock car racing. A good example is the fact that someone had already "twittered", "tweeted", or whatever they call it, to someone regarding the confrontation before either Kyle or Richard even got back to their motorhomes. The fact is that this type of situation actually occurred all too frequently "back in the day". I guess there aren't that many of us still around who remember drivers like Lee Petty, Curtis Turner, and more recently the "Man in Black", plusseveral others who weren't shy at all when it came to contact with other drivers on the track..........and I suspect that many disagreements were settled behind the garages or out of view of the cameras. I have personally witnessed similar situations at NASCAR-sanctioned dirt tracks (several years ago)......theneveryone would go onto the next track the next weekend and resume their competition. It was just a part of the environment . Today, it gets blown all out of proportion and becomes a huge deal. I'm certainly not advocating that disagreementsbe settled by physically fighting with each other...........but it might benefit NASCAR to go back and take a look at a simpler bygone era of the sport - back when most NASCAR races were sellouts - and figure outsome of the things that attracted fans to the race tracks.

Long overdue for someone to "man up". Hats off to Richard Childress.

Wally, come on. I know where you're going with the "one side" but really. The situation is what it is because it has allowed to become so. One sided though it be, it is that way.

Just seems like Kyle cannot stay out of the news. I know the two have nothing to do with each other. Thats all i was getting at.

It is one sided guys. Kyle was the poor sport here. Childress just made him man up and answer for his actions to someone that it really mattered , R.C. himself.

Kids misbehave (Kyle), adults reprimand (Childress).

If you have ever owned a race car then you know EXACTLY where Childress was coming from. I have owned cars and from that perspective I say again it was as the old saying goes...." The devil got his due"

A good smack up side the head is not a civilized action for sure but there are those in this world that just beg for it anyway...so with that I say Kyle got his. I am now anxious to hear from Kyle to gauge whether R.C. hit him hard enough or will it need to be done again at a later date.

Also I would say that chronilogical age is not nearly as critical as the maturity level when racing competitively. Kyle has proven that point over and over again.

What happened in Las Vegas 20 PLUS YEARS AGO should have stayed the heck in Las Vegas.

Back in the day, for such an 'intolerable example of owner-behavior', soccer-mom wannabee, Helton, would have had to restrict and punish Mrs. Elizabeth Petty!! LOL

I am not a Kyle Busch fan but as i remember a car that Richard Childress owned that wrecked a lot of drivers.Guess Richard forgot about that.

Most of the ones that are on this site have driven and owned cars at one time or other and it makes no differance whether it was an old claimer car or cup car you still did not want to see it torn up. And after the checkers fall and someone purposely runs into your car whether you are the driver or owner it pisses you off. This is not the first time it has happened to RC but with the actions that he took it may very well be the last if the othert driver thinks he may suffer the same treatment as Kyle then it may make them think twice before they act. I have heard many a crew member say in a similar instance bring that so and so over here and we will see how he likes to be beat on after the race. I remember well this being said about ole DW after a race after wrecking a back marker in a race at Darlington but he was quickly escorted out of the track by crew members and a couple of deputy's to keep the rival team from getting a hold of him.With that being said what happened to the saying Let's have at it boy's ?
