Friday morning! Usually a day reserved for yard work but today I'm taking it easy because my doctor had to schedule an appointment at 11:50, right in the middle of the day to screw up anything I had planned to do. I can understand his BMW payment is due on the 20th, but I don't appreciate such inconsideration.
I have been sitting here reading all the Forum Posts, and all the Blog posts as well as reading all the comments. I've also been looking at all the pictures posted from the past two weeks, something I have not had time to do of late. I have come to a profound conclusion!
I really don't believe Jeff Gilder ever dreamed what he was creating with this site. Before Racers Reunion my computer experiences consisted of e-mails, watching what racing videos I could find, being in chat rooms talking about racing either on Yahoo or, back in the day, on NASCAR.com. I still don't know how to cut and paste and all that computer stuff, but I know how to find Racers Reunion and enjoy all it has to offer.
What has really rocked me this morning is having read all the posts and realizing what a wealth of knowledge, talent, experience, and history we have in this place. There is humor, there is nostalgia, there is history, there is future. Most of all, there is racing, past, present and future. There are differences of opinion but most, and I repeat MOST, are handled with humor or at least courtesy.
I also realized what honors have come to me personally through this site for which I am very thankful. I have been allowed to do things I could only dream of doing before. I have been a part of things that weren't even in the dreamscape before Racers Reunion. I am allowed to hang around legends of the sport who were, back in the days of my youth, the superstars of the sport but who are, today, friends I get to talk with on an almost regular basis. As I've said many times, spending time with Rex White never ceases to make me feel like someone very special. He certainly is someone very special. And there are so many more.
I am not going to start naming names of all you individuals here who have become personal friends through this site, most of whom I have met face to face, but each one of you should know who you are. And to those I have not yet met face to face, we need to work on that. Again, not naming names.
It was not my intention to swing this post around to ME, but because the reason for the post was to let you all know how important you are to ME and to Racers Reunion, it sort of had to come back around to me. Thanks for being my friend (if you are) and if you aren't, thanks for being a member of Racers Reunion.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.
