Monday Night Racing Discussed by Mike Helton in Phoenix

On the possibility of having Monday night races after rain forced that on the Daytona 500: "As we put the 2013 schedule together there was discussion, 'That kind of worked.' That's an opportunity for us to look at down the road."

I don't guess the Saturday night weekly track operators would object, but I can't see regularly scheduled Monday night Cup racing drawing huge crowds. Of course, if it's only a television package NASCAR is interested in and not a live at-track audience, then this might be the way to go.

Thursdays are open, too, lol!

There was a reason that places like Beltsville stopped racing on Wednesday night back in the 60s.

I could see it working with a 150 lap truck race that would draw a local crowd to a short track in the Summer. maybe not a sellout crowd, but enough to look presentable to the TV cameras that would bring in most of the money and audience. They really need to get Nationwide and trucks back to the small tracks and markets. Use it as the headliner for Modified and Sportsman and boost those series a bit. Sprint cup is the fruit. You have to feed the roots if you want the fruit.

wasnt wed afternoon in sc restricted back in the day? wasnt stores and business closed on it? also wasnt sun a blue day???? wasnt that the reason columbia ran on thursday nite?? or or oh well ! ! !

They need to check OUR schedules first!! LOL Through the week.....we put on some pretty good show ourselves here at RR. Come see us on the RADIO!!! Maybe they aren't busy....but we are doing a good job of filling OUR seats....just sayin.....
