The Bud Shootout or Should I say the Chase for the Cup, Rookie of the Year, Daytona winners, and Cup Champions Shootout??

Who remembers the Bud Shootout when you had 18-20 drivers who earned their spot by winning poles the previous year?? I do, but apparently NASCAR feels winning poles is not COOL anymore!

Watching Qualifying for me was always fun because I never knew who was going to get the pole each week and who were the surprises that had great runs or lower budget teams who raced their way into the fields. A driver who was able to win a pole had something to look forward to the following year because the Bud Shootout was their All-Star race to show off to fans and sponsors what they are made of at Daytona each year. NASCAR has to complain because of a low car count, think back to the inaugural Shootout (or Busch Clash at that time), there were 12 drivers, not 28, 12 DRIVERS in the entire field and the racing was even more intense than today.

Also, who does Joey Logano think he is? Just because you win Rookie of the Year (because Scott Speed was no conpetition), when does that make you elligible to race in an All-Star type race? The top 12 in points and previous Daytona winners as well, very few of you won poles in 2009 and that is what should allow you to race in the Shootout.

NASCAR needs to really gut themselves and if you want to go back to "THE ROOTS", then stop screwing up good things!!

Speaking of the Rookie of the Year..............is there a candidate for 2010? If not, it'll be the first no-show in NASCAR history.

Maybe most drivers who would run for Rookie of the year heard Danica was coming in the series before the season began and just figured why bother...even though she had no plans for the Cup series. We all know who will be Rookie of the year when she decides to run a Cup schedule. Also, great comment from Leon about Nascar putting on a show instead of a race. Couldn't have said it better myself!!Pete, finally thawing out in Michigan.

there are two rookie of the year candidates, Kevin Conway and Terry Cook. Conway just plain sucks and i only in Cup because Daddy knew somebody and he has sponsor money. Cook is driving for Whitney Motorsports or as I call it the "We DNQ every week cause we have no budget" Conway will win be default because Cook's team hasn't made a race yet this season, but if Kevin keeps running bad he will be lucky to qualify for anymore events after Bristol because the top 35 rule Bobby Williamson said:
