Saw this obituary in the Charlotte paper. Thoughts and prayers to the Pemberton family.

George "Jud" Pemberton

April 2, 1931 - June 23, 2013

George Jud Pemberton, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Brian Center in Mooresville, NC.
He was born in 1931 in Saratoga Springs, NY, to the late Peter and Ellen Pemberton. Known as Jud by family and friends, George proudly served his country aboard the USS COATES, as a gunners mate, from 1951-55.
A phenomenal basketball player, in high school, college and in the service, he was often referred to as Juddy Jump Shot a distinction earned, as one of the first players to ever shoot the basketball jump shot.
Jud passed his love of sports and competition on to his sons Robin, Randy, Ryan and Roman who are all involved in NASCAR racing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian and brother, Larry.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Dunster Pemberton; sons, Robin (Lisa), Randy, Ryan (Andrea), Roman, all living in the Mooresville area; grandchildren, Bray, Briggs, Payton, Britton, River, Ryder and Rooke; sister, Doris Leary of Saratoga, NY; and brother, Peter of Utica, NY.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 26 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.

My thoughts and prayers to the family as well. The Pembertons have contributed, and continue to contribute, a great deal to the sport we all care about.
