Its January and the guys are already in Daytona--testing-- they really working the track over because think of this, you have a new surface with only one seam. So no jumping around like they used to to get a different grip on a different strip of pavement. Tires are different this year so thats an issue along with the "new" nose. DW likes it because of the lack of hardware hanging down. But with a new front dam and a new rear downforce package,Cant call it a wing any more, there should be some exciting new handling packages in the works.
Will running up against the wall work this year? Mikee is running the 500 and he is known to be a wall hugger along with Jr. Speaking of Jr there is an old face hanging around at Hendricks, got any ideas there?
Now you better start early this year figuring who is driving what car and what number they have too. The teams are shaking up things in their own shop too so dont be assured of who is in what car or even number.
Now the fun begins, baby boy Brain has come up with a twist to the beginnings,I dont exactly know what to call it anymore but he sure has a bunch of cars in it. Even drivers who havent done enough to merit being in the race.
Now there is renewed talk of putting a twist in the chase also so if last years race wasnt exciting who knows what this year is to be like.
Now Fox is supposed to have it all,so they say, to broadcast so if you are lucky it can bee seen on your tv.
But now the problem starts to show its face. The fans or the lack of them, what does NASCAR have in store to draw them back to the track or even to the tube. Maybe the tickets will be discounted but dont bank on that----yet.
So now the delima has started to be laid out for us to weigh in on and to see if there will be renewed interest in short tracks again this year ------or will Nascar dangle the carrot out so the fans can see and smell it or will the Donkey take it and run.
If all else fails we always have our trusty Goat Rodeo to come home to and our weekend warriors to entertain us. We even have a Bell-n-Bell series to support and reunions galore.
Out of all this there could be a new racing organization on the horizon, you have heard talk of it all last year now what do you think ?? Silence is not always Golden
