Regardless of who you might have pulled for in the Daytona Truck or Nationwide race, you gotta admit it's fun to watch first time winners in Victory Lane.

Now, who do I put my money on for Sunday's 500??

First timer or veteran?

So far my Daytona picks have not fared very good.

Didn't some hot shot try out "Smell-o-vision" at the movies years ago?

If we could pipe in the smell of high octane gas fumes and burning rubber, along with the throbbing of V-8s that can currently only be experienced in person, we might be on to something, PK!

Backers, backers, backers....?

I realize you are looking for solid predictions + a wild-card or two for Sunday. But sticking w/the 1st time winners comment, I've been fortunate to see these 1st time Cup winners. It was indeed a neat deal to hear them whoop and holler on the radio, see the crowd's reaction, watch as victory lane is chaotic with hugs and backslaps, etc.

1986 - Rusty Wallace - Bristol

1987 - Davey Allison - Talladega

1994 - Sterling Marlin - Daytona

1994 - Jeff Gordon - Charlotte

1997 - Jeff Burton - Texas

2007 - Casey Mears - Charlotte

Like I said during Tuesday's show, I'm not picking simply because it's who ever can sneek through and not get hit. The last two days have been a wreck-fest, and on both races, it was one who stayed in front for the last handful of laps and hang on, and the other came from 11th or 12th (something like that) to first in the final turn to win it. I'm just afraid to pick and I'm glad I'm not betting.

I keep telling my friends. Alot of times the guy who wins at Daytona is someone you never expect. Did anyone expect Derrike Cope, Ward Burton, Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray, Trevor Bayne
