Well, isn't this a nice preview of the Hall of Fame Inductees announcement? Tim Newman, the man at the Charlotte Regional Visitor's Authority who screwed up so much connected with the NASCAR Hall has been arrested after rear ending a young girl on Interstate 77 in Charlotte.
Newman left the scene after his arrest and "blew" a .14, twice the legal alcohol limit in North Carolina. This is the same guy Humpy Wheeler wrote a glowing endorsement for in the Charlotte paper just before he was terminated.
Of course, Mr. Newman collected $28,905 on March 3rd of "accrued" vacation pay and continues to be paid $9,461.54 bi-weekly and gets a $694.58/month car allowance from my tax dollars. Maybe the "unemployed" Mr. Newman can use that car allowance to fix the car of the young lady he rear ended.
I appreciated Tim Leeming's "Legendtorial" last night regarding the Hall of Fame, but Tim doesn't live here and have to pay for this crap.
Am I going to that damned NASCAR Hall of Fame? Not until they get their act together and quit fleecing the citizens of Charlotte. The Charlotte Regional Visitor's Authority and the crooks who have been associated with it and the Hall of Fame make me sick.
Newman, ex-CRVA chief, charged with DWI, hit-and-run
The Charlotte Observer
Staff Reports
Wednesday, May. 23, 2012
Former Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority chief executive Tim Newman was charged Tuesday with driving while impaired.
Records show Newman was arrested late Tuesday and also charged with hit and run property damage and failing to give information, according to the website of the Mecklenburg County jail.
The website says he was arrested by the N.C. Highway Patrol, but a sergeant for the Mecklenburg County office was not immediately available on Wednesday.
Newman had been the chief salesman and promoter of Charlotte in his role as head of the CRVA. But he had been moved into an executive sales position in December when the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority board hired Tom Murray to replace him. In late February, Murray announced that Newman was leaving, saying they both came to a decision that he would move on.
