Freedom is not FREE!

I watched the flag pass by today.
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Sailor saluted it, and then he stood at ease.
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud
He'd stand out in any crowd
I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the yearsHow many died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.

I heard the sound of TAPS one night
When everything was still
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That TAPS had meant "Amen,
"When a flag had draped a coffin Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea

Amen Jerry. The scary thing about this year is that so many are overlooking Memorial Day. I have already e-mailed my pastor about the fact that Memorial Day was not even mentioned in our service yesterday. I could not let that pass without a response. Although I'm not trying to start trouble, I am aware of a faction within our church who has this ultra liberal agenda and I am afraid that is why the day was overlooked. Thank God for our veterans and especially for those who have paid that ultimate price for freedom. Let us never forget what we owe those men and women a debt we can never repay but which we must always acknowledge to each generation. Thanks, Jerry.Tim

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Jerry I wave my flag proudly and are not ashamed of the colors or for what it means. This day is for the guys and gals in our military that protect us from the evils of afar and now near. I respect this day for what it stands for not what I can make out of it. G O D B L E S S America Still the land of the free ...............!!!
