A few years back, didn't the old race track at the Piedmont Interstate Fairgrounds (Spartanburg, SC) receive a face-lift as part of a historical celebration/vintage racing event? As best I recall, David Pearson won the vintage event in his '37 coach. What's happened since?

I remember reading about this in Perry Woods book "Silent Speedways of the Carolinas". I think this happened in 2002...and they only ran a handfull of races after that "Legends" race. What seememd like a great idea died out out quickly. Perry can probably give us run down on the details.Calling Perry Allen Woods...lol. I think he is at a book signing deal at Memory Lane Museum today.Jeff

Perry is at a book signing but will contact me as soon as he gets back to the Burg. I'll tell him he needs to reply to this. Like Jeff said Perry can tell you anything you want to know about the Fairgrounds in Spartanburg. This is funny because we're writing a song about it now talking about Him and David Ball growing up and going there when they were kids, and the races there. The book itself is facinating

Here's a dream for ya............vintage 'racing' at Occoneechee, even if it was a parade, the old cars circling the track would be cool! A power slide here or there............Just imagine the photos!
