Don is correct it was Dr Don Tarr who was wired for sound to report from his car while racing. His pit crew held up a sign that said "TALK" when he went by...since they didn't have radios.

I'm gonna guess here................. Benny Parsons at the 79' Daytona 500.............had camera and radio in his car to talk with TV announcers.
