From a story in the Macon Telegraph Wed. Sept. 12, 2013.

The Georgia Historical Society will memorialize the 1970 Byron Pop Festival at 3:00 PM Sat. when it places an Historical Marker at the Middle Georgia Raceway near where the concert was held July 3-5, 1970.

The story went on to say. Public nudity, drugs and rock and roll. The July 4th weekend was wicked wild.

The marker will remind Georgians that 42 years ago Jemi Hendrix played there.

Last November, I included a mention of the pop festival in my blog entry about Richard Petty's 1970 win at Middle Georgia.

Instead of a marker for Jimi Hendrix, I think they need to install one for that well-hidden still.

I agree TMC. How about including all of the BIG NAME NASCAR drivers that raced there from 1966 thru 1984.

They need to be recognizing you and your fellow MGR racers, Tommie.

Thanks Dave. But there was Petty, Pearson, Yarborough, Allison, Bonnett, Farmer Lund, Pistoneand a whole list of who's who in NASCAR that we raced against. Names that people still recognize.
