I was so sick of that checkered illusion. I look forward to seeing the rest of the cars and new schemes.

I agree but I have been pleased by what I've seen. A few weeks back I saw a new Toyota but didn't recognize the model at first glance. After I came to a stop beside it I realized it was the New Camry, and I was able to identify it from the 2013 Cup version photos that I had seen. Much closer to be a copy of the street car than we have seen for many years now. I hope that all cars will retain the fender blisters and body creases that are on the new cars. Time will tell, got my finger crossed.

It looks better than what we had, but if you took off the Chevy badges you'd have have a hard time telling it from a Toyota or Ford (or Lexus or Hyundai). At least from the rear and sides. Street cars look similar these days and racecars even more. They keep talking about how the cars are too dependent on aero but they still build in non-stock front valances and long side-skirts.

It's a welcome change, and nascar has made several of those recently so I'll just say thank you.

The days of the chin spoilers are gone, the front valances will be here from now on. I agree with your statement that the street cars are looking more alike but I'll take these changes and hope that the racing improves. I disagree that you wont be able to tell the difference between the manufacturers. The Ford looks so different I fear NASCAR will not allow the current version to take to the track.

Sure the Ford looks different from the front, but the greenhouse is identical to the other cars and the tail is very similar between the three. Pretty much the same as the COT but better. They're trying and that's good. The danger is that if they depend too much on the stock body then we'll go back to weekly protests and adjustments to various manufacturers. That was annoying. It was better when the cars restyled every year and manufacturers could run last year's car if this one was a dog. It's too bad that Dodge won't ever be back. Their 2013 racecar looked real sharp and the just introduced a Charger Daytona model.I don't see why we can't have chin spoilers. Raise the front and sides of the cars to six inches off the track so that the cars are less dependent on aero. I've read that nascar did a lot of work in the tunnel to make these cars drive better. I'll reserve final judgement until I've seen a few races. I definitely don't want to see any more trains like Daytona has had for the last ten years.

We agree more than we disagree. I have been stating for years that they need to "Dirty Up" the cars and get away from aero grip. The greatest racing was, in my opinion, in the late 60's through the 70's. When driver talent and mechanical grip carried the car. I post on here several times that they need to raise the nose, stand the windshield up some and cut the rear spoiler down to around 3".They have to make the drivers lift at Daytona and Talledaga entering the turns, put the driver back in the equation. All the racing would improve. I hope the fender blisters and body creases will remain, I do not care for flat sides.
