1973 - Chargin' Charlie Glotzbach announces he is ready to return to Winston Cup racing in 1974 after a very limited schedule in 1972-1973 and a disagreement with Bill France, Jr. My hunch is Charlie finally swallowed his pride and finally agreed with the France adage of "You need us worse than we need you." Very great addition to the history Chase. Have a question for you. Do you know if there was ever a race run on Christmas Day? That was presented to me in an e-mail this morning and I have no clue. I can't imagine that ever happened, but I'm sure you can find out.

I recall our RR members Bobby Williamson and Dennis Andrews recounting some Christmas morning races in their boyhood homes courtesy of Western Auto!

This was my Christmas Day racing adventure sometime in the mid 70s. Wish I still had it - but my mother sold it in a summer yard sale several years later.

There's a house for sale on Rte. 426 going into Geneva, Florida that has a paved figure eight R/C track in the front yard. We were going by the other day and my wife said, " Don't even think about it, not even for Christmas"... Its getting harder anymore to have new toys.....lol

Those pesky wives are sometimes (often) a step ahead of us!

Thanks! I'm learning as I go along. The deeper we get into December, the harder its become to surface racing news from back in the day. But I'm digging anyway! Ha.
