Tires, What would you start the race off with in reference to tire pressure, Now this is on pavement....

And for us old school guys what would you start a race on dirt in reference to tire pressure. This used to be a well kept secret but now its kinda shared --or is it really?

You know, Johnny, I cannot remember what tire pressure we used on what tracks but I'm sure it was always intended to keep the tires safe. The first year I did all that myself but by the second year about the only thing I did at the track was drive. I have a crew then that did it all. But that is an interesting topic for discussion as obviously these days they play with tire pressures a lot.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Johnny, On dirt I always started out with 20-22 lbs in left front , 28 in right front, 24 in left rear and 30 in right rear. Down here in Florida the ambient temps are usually higher so I would check my tire temps 1" in from each side and in the center. If the center temp was cooler I would add pressure, If the center temp was warmer I would reduce it. I guess a lot depends on track, time of year ,wgt of car etc.

Depends on type of car for sure. We used to run LF 15 RF 22 RR 22 and LR was what ever we needed to get the desired stagger I have started as low was 8 or 9 psi. With today's tire preps I would say you could run more as the preps help with temps.
