This race began with Darrell Waltrip on the pole, Terry Labonte in 2nd, Harry Gant 3rd andTim Richmond starting 4th.Terry Labonte led 41 laps (including the final 15) to win with Harry Gant finishing in 2nd, Bobby Allison finishing in 3rd after starting 17th, Ricky Rudd finishing 4th and Kyle Petty rounding out the top 5. Waltrip ended up finishing in 8th.

This was Kyle Petty's first race at riverside for the Wood Brothers in our 7-Eleven car. you can see our 7-Eleven signage on the Riverside scoring pylon. Kyle's 5th place finish on the road course was a real spirit booster and our 7-Eleven Winston West car driven by Derrike Cope for George Jefferson posted a 15th place finish that day.
