Curtis%20Turner.jpg

I had posted this as a reply to Tim Leeming's post, but it is snowing, I am bored and I figured there are others out there that I might stir into some mental activity.

One of our RR friends, Woody Delbridge sent me some pictures and a newspaper article concerning Curtis Turner's induction into the Hall of Fame. (none too soon I might add) This picture of Turner wheeling this big bulky sedan peaked my interest. The grill features and unique nose seemed vaguely familiar, but I was forced to do an exhaustive search on the web to try and identify this car. I would challenge all of the old car enthusiasts out there to name the make and model. I believe many of you will be surprised to learn what it is. As a small hint, this vehicle sold for just about double what your standard Ford or Chevrolet cost back in the day. It was NOT a cheap race car. I suppose whoever fielded the car figured that Curtis Turner was capable of winning enough $150 features to defray their investment. More likely though, it was another money guy who would have spent twice this in order to get the wins.

You get the prize Johnny! Now what will I do to fill the rest of my afternoon? Ha!

This pic shows the bumper guard just like on Turner's car.....or "move aside" bar perhaps.

Afraid I have bad news Johnny....it seems the promoter slipped away with all of the proceeds AND your flag. It was a spirited contest anyway. I suspect you may have cheated a little with several years head start. Who else but someone older than me would begin to know where to look for this car?

Me Old did you say??? You are only as old as you feel and I AINT old, just ran a couple more races than you. But anyway there just happened to be an Imperial of that era in Daytona whichfrequents a lot of car shows. So really age only helps in some situations. And the weather, you live up there where that white stuff falls . About the best we can do is throw sand in the air so no harm no foul on age 

....and the white stuff has been falling for two days. UNCLE already!!

I'll take you at your word that you're a young feller, but I did peruse your pictures on your RR page. It would appear that you are acquainted with a number of elderly folks.

Sounds like you reside in a more compatible climate. You got a spare bedroom?
