I have a 68 Dodge Charger that I believe was a pace car at Columbia Speedway at some point.I was wondering if anyone had info or recollection of this car as I would like to restore it back as it was when it was the pace car at Columbia...you can still see the lettering through the paint...on the quarter panels above the rear tires it says "New" Columbia Speedway....Racing every friday night... and has crossed checkered flags under that. It is now painted orange and has 01 on the door and "general lee" above the doors...it may have been like that when it was the pace car... which means it would have been in the late 70's when the Dukes of Hazard TV show was popular... Anyone remember this car? and does anyone have a photo of it? Would love to get it done for the reunion event in April at the speedway...it doesn't need much... new paint and lettering and a tune up to get it ready...thanks for any help...

I think this car was used by the New "Columbia Speedway" in Gaston, SC not the old speedway in Cayce. Larry & Carol Bodie were the owners of the race track, I belive Carol still owns the track.

Thank you Dennis! Yes this is the car from the Gaton, SC track. I got in touch with Carol (McCombs) and she has lots of pictures of the car as they used to give kiddie rides every Friday night during intermission or after the races and took pictures of all the kids in it...Thank you very much for the info...Bud

It wouldn't have been a Dukes of Hazard scheme as a pace car, as the show began in 1979 and the speedway was already closed.
