AMEN to that Andy, even though Wendell was not given the best he did what he could and I personally think he competed with the big boys on his own terms. Todays drivers I do no think would have had the perseverance nor the resolve to continue like he did.

I agree wholeheartedly with what you guys have said...... but..... I would bet that Wendell is being lapped by Richard based on the position of the 2 cars on the track.

from a sheer symmetricral standpoint, this is a perfect picture, the angle of the shot, and how both cars are still in the image while backgrounds are blurry(sort of), you can even see petty chewing on a white rag, not to mention, two legends of racing. great shot!!

ahhh shoot Keith let some of us old-timers believe in our hearts that Ol' Wendell is just plain outrunning Richard Petty in this photo!
