Charlie did indeed have a mid-engine car at one time. I think this one was a collaboration between he and Ray Callahan of Borden, Ind., the proprietor of Bullitt Chassis. I used to have to drive from Salem to Louisville and back on weekends to flag at the Fairgrounds in Louisville, and I remember stopping at Ray's shop and seeing this car (or one like it) being built.

I notice the car says "Pekin, Ind." on the quarter-panel. Ray's shop was almost halfway between Pekin and Borden on Indiana Highway 60, almost on the Clark County-Washington County line.
