Stacy Compton is competing for the CINTAS Rookie title in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN TRUCK SERIES in 1997. Compton began his racing career in Go-Karts at a very early age, compiling more than 150 wins, 10 championships and many special awards. After moving to the NASCAR Winston Racing Series, he compiled 36 wins, 39 poles and over 150 top 5 finishes and a track championship at South Boston Speedway in 1994. In 1996, Compton entered several Winston Cup Races, the first at the Martinsville Speedway. To the amazement of the newsmedia, NASCAR and fans, Compton qualified an amazing 9th and ended the race only after having mechanical failure. Among those impressed with Compton's ability was David Hodson who in late 1996 offered him a multi-year contract to drive for IMPACT MOTORSPRTS.
