On Saturday night July 16, 1983 Dale Earnhardt drove the Bud Moore
#15 Wrangler Jeans Ford to a convincing win over 2nd place Darrell Waltrip at the Nashville, Tennessee Fairgrounds - Waltrip's home track - in the Busch Nashville 420. DW had won 4 straight Nashville races in Junior Johnson's Chevy since Earnhardt had scored a win at Nashville for Rod Osterlund.
I was privileged to be Manager, Wrangler NASCAR Special Events at the time and am standing far left top row holding winning car sponsor trophy with car owner Bud Moore on far right.
It had heen a blistering hot day and night with jack stands sinking in the new garage pavement.
In the brown and yellow shirt is one of Buddy Parrott's sons who was working with his crew chief dad on the Joe Ruttman
#98 Levi Garrett entry. Dale's scorer and president of the Dale Earnhardt fan club, Dolly Madera is holding the number 15 scoring clipboard. Dolly's husband, tire specialist Cal Madera is kneeling beside her. This was a wonderful group of people.
Dale got so hot in his dark blue Wrangler driving uniform that ue never wanted to wear it again, preferring a white uniform with blue and yellow stripes. Note the perpiration soaking hrough the Nomex on that hot Nashville night. I've previously posted a black and white photo from victory lane showing me, Dale, Teresa Earnhardt and Miss Winston Becky Carter. The Nashville Fairgrounds was home track of a group Dale called "The Nashville Crew" as seen in this Beverly Hamer photo from the Russ Thompson collection. They were all charter members of thecDalecEarnhardt fan club.
