I won the first class Trophy at Aquasco Speedway in Md. in 1957 on opening day. Later co owned the Burgess and Reitz A/f coupe and drove to class wins and records at Cordoba Ill. and Chester SC. 1958 -9. The most feared flat head in the east. Then we built the Reitz ,Chastang, Gregory, and Sneden T/F dragster. This was a home built chassis with Desoto power 370 cu in 6 carb on 90% nitro. We ran at Chester SC. and set the 1/8th mile world record at 142.85. We ran several east coast meets with some limited success. When Chrysler started running their Super Stock cars in 1962 we became interested and contacted the now well known Bob Banning owner of Dodge and Plymouth dealerships in Hyattsville Md. in regards to a Super stock program. He was very interested and responded with two 1963 426 max wedge cars. We had almost instant success with the cars and Tom Sneden and I enjoyed a lot of race wins. We went on to 64 and 65 cars which became our breakout in 65 with a 4speed A999 car to win the Nascar Summer Nationals. Then we built two 67 R/Ts to run in Nascar U/S class and went on to place 2nd and 5th in the Nascar points. In 1968 we were tired of handicap racing and built a Logghe chassised 2400lb Dodge Charger Gas Funny to run Nascar heads up eliminator. The car was well liked and very successful. We ran the same car in 1969 at 2000 lbs and won a lot of races. But again the urge to step up came and we built a AA/FC. Tom wanted to drive in the top of the class and we had a Hardy car built with a Challenger body. We won an early show at Capitol beating Prudhomme and Jungle Jim. We placed 3rd overall at the 70 S/Stock Nationals at York Pa. We ran the Nascar Circuit during the 70-71 season with several wins. Then came 1972 with a Woody Gilmore built ,Don Kirby painted, Kenny Youngblood lettered, Green Dodge Challenger, with all of the bells and whistles. This was a very succesful car with lots of east coast wins such as Cars Magazine Meet at Atco. We won eight straight Funny Car Shows at Conneticut Dragway. The end of the era came when my family commitment caused me to stop racing.Dave

Dave, saw you in just about all the cars you mentioned. Those R/Ts were a thing of beauty and engineering.Used to work with Herb Freels who you might remember from those S/S days.If you have a chance, see my NASCAR post on the Best Of Times group and please add.I talk about those who went from carbs to injected to funnys while running NASCAR and you were one of the teams I mention.RH
