I'm surprised Herman the Turtle put a driver like Cale in his pristine race car. He had to know what was going to happen when Cale put the hammer down.Pete

Ya really. I can remember Herman and my Dad coming to Holman and Moody in Charlotte and picking this car up. They were given a truck, trailer, motors, gears, anything they needed. The only catch was that the motors could not be torn down and Cale was to drive the car. I can remember a race at Smoky Mountain speedway that Cale was leading and he wrecked the car with just a few laps to go, that was the straw that finally broke the camel's back. I think Herman fired him shortly thereafter.
