Bostick Winner In Speedways Main Event
Bill Bostick of Ellerbe made his best bid of the season in the sportsman race Saturday night and wrapped up both the heat and feature events. Buck Covington placed second and Troy Edwards of Staley third.
Saturday nights race was slowed by spectacular wrecks but no injuries were sustained. The most spectacular accident came from J.F. Spivey of Carthage and Thurman Shelton of Bennett when both cars turned end over end, at the same time, directly in front of the grandstand. Bob Webb also rolled his car on the 28 th lap of the 30 lap sportsman feature event while running in second position.

Big Field Entered For Sat. Night Race

Bill Bostick of Ellerbe will be trying for a second victory here Saturday night after breaking Troy Edwards three race winning streak. A complete field of the speedways most winning drivers are scheduled to take the green flag here Saturday night.
The most superior field of amateur cars ever entered here are setting speed records almost equivalent to the more powerful sportsman cars. Among those heading the field in the amateur ranks are Johnny Newton, McColl, S.C.. Tommy Bostick, Bennettsville; Al Rivers and Pat McMillan, Laurinburg; Harold Carmac and Ray York, Ramseur; J.F. Spivey, Carthage and Thurman Shelton, Bennett, N.C..
Time trials will get underway Saturday night at 7:30 P.M. with the first race set for 8:30 P.M..

Speedway Plans For 100 th Race
Rockingham Speedway officials are making plans in preparation for the 100 th race milestone of the local speedway since opening five years ago.
(Most of the article was not readable so I will only comment that the first race was held in 1956 which would make 1960 the 5 th year of operation.)

The 6 th thru the 8 th positions were earned on the 20 th but can not be assumed to be the finishing order on that date as any driver in the top four the week prior could have again been in the top four.
One other item of note is this article omits Walson Gardner and list Bill Bostick as 3 rd and adds John Sears as 4 th .

This article states the John Sears broke Bobby Webbs 6 week win streak. The last winner other than Webb that has been documented was Troy Edwards on June 25 th . That goes back 10 race weekends. News clippings show that Bobby Webb won the sportsman 30 lap feature on July 23 rd , seven weeks ago. He also won the 100 lap Anniversary race on Aug. 6 th and the 30 lap feature on Aug. 13 th . This documents that Bobby had won on 3 of the last 7 race weekends. The 6 week win streak this article documents suggest that there must have been one cancellation during that 7 week time frame. This records 9 feature wins to date for Bobby Webb in 1960.
