My best friend, Frank (who at the time was living in Siler City) and I are standing in front of the pickup truck door directly behind KP. I have on a Wrangler hat and jacket wearing sunglasses; Frank is in a blue windbreaker. That had to be a strange feeling for Dale Inman (standing out in pit road) to see KP pass by. Dale had just started working for Osterlund on the Earnhardt car at Atlanta in March after leaving Petty Enterprises.
Kyle hit the NASCAR version of a "hat trick" with not one - not two - but three spins in this race. King Richard went on to win it for his 15th and final victory at Wilkesboro. http://bench-racing.blogspot.com/2012/04/april-5-this-day-in-petty-history.html
