Was nominate/elected to the Mich. Auto Racing Fan Club board of directors. The term is June 1, 2011 to May 31, 2013. Ought to be interesting. Never thought I'd be a 55 year-old rookie at anything anymore.

Dennis, with your knowledge and experience you'll do really well. No question in my mind. Are they going to make you carry a yellow bumper????

Congratulations. That is quite an honor and I'm sure one well deserved. Besides, if Pete Banchoff supports you, I'm all for you!!!!Tim

Thanks guys. But Pete, knowledge in this case is a double edged sword. I had been on "the other side of the fence" for so long that my wife knows more of the people in the club than I do. I hope I didn't forget how to be a fan. I was thinking of going to the first board meeting with a strip of yellow tape on my back.Man, I gotta study up on the local Mich. racing scene.

Dennis, I understand what you're saying. I have to admit I am locked in the past with my memories of Michigan racing. I don't have your background in racing, you forgot more than I'll ever know. I sat in the stands. I'm critical of many tracks for not having even a list of track champions or knowledge of their history, yet I don't go to races to show my support of the present. I'm going to try harder this year, Jim Wilmore and I can hopefully get to a race at Spartan when he comes home for a week or so and Dixie has invited me to get my butt in their stands again. The last race I attended at a local track was 1972 at Tri-City in Auburn.I am following a couple of very good current drivers, but they are son's and grandsons of drivers that I grew up watching. Travis Eddy (Mike Eddy's son) is doing really well in Modifieds and I see he is trying late models this year and Nick Landon who is Wayne Landon's grandson from the old supermodifieds. This gives me someone to root for and a name I recognize.Sorry about the ramble, but I still feel you'll do a great job, even with a rookie stripe.LOL
