HC Pritchard past multiple champions at Sumter Speedway and others

H C Pritchard passed away Friday February 6th at his him in Sumter. Any of you who have been around sumter speedway for a while will remeber his red & white # 28's. He was featured in Mark Osborne's book about Sumter Gamecock Speedway. He was inducted into the Sumter Sports Hall of Fame for all the accopmplishments he had in local racing.Please Pray for all of us for this is my Grandfather.ThanksBrent Barrineau

These pictures bring back a lot of great memories. My grandfather, HC Pritchard, uncle Harry Pritchard, and James Andrews are all featured in the pictures and books. I worked with my grandfather at his garage when I was 13-15 and this book brought back a lot of stories that Lee Johnson used to come the shop and tell about the good old days at sumter speedway. My 7 year old son never got the chance to see granddaddy race but still tells all the kids at school his granddad is the greatest racecar driver ever and he has a book with stories in it. Granddaddy was inducted into the Sumter Sports Hall of Fame several years ago along with Cale Yarborough. Thanks for writing this book and sharing the stories with others of real saturday night racing.
