Dave, you will want to check out the Blue Ridge Folk Life exhibit that was done by Ferrum College. They have photos and info about old speedways in Virginia. I don't have the web site right now, but will try to find it again. Lots of good info and photos. Was done about three years ago I think.

Well PK, Charlotte had to get some of their money back. I don't believe NASCAR ever owned anything there including, I think, the hall. They are using the NASCAR name. Center City Partners was the entity used to sell the hall and marketing for all of this. Can you imagine a hall of fame not being owned or, at least, regulated by the entity it represents? I truly hope all of this does not hurt the people who deserve to be enshrined there.

Dave, bet you also remember the old Drewry Mason High School band playing the anthem at Martinsville. They would march around the track stopping at each turn to play a song before playing the National Anthem. Any band, even with an off-key note, beats a rendition done by a voice with a total disregard for the music. I also liked the Statler Bros. recording used at Richmond.
