Hope you have a great time.I was in the Air Force in Arizona from 1968-1972 and was able to attend a few races
at PIR.This was in the days of USAC before Nascar came .Here are a couple pictures that were made in November 1969 at the Bobby Ball 200.The track was very different then.
The Historic Speedway Group would like to thank everyone who attended the Celebration of The Automobile and Racers Reunion this past Saturday. What a great day it was.Would especially like to thank all the children and young people who sometimes get overlooked. We always want to be about the family. That is so much what racing has been about from the beginning.Attached are a few photos I made Saturday that I think add to the old saying a picture is worth a thousand words!!
Perhaps while he is at it he could sing Elvis Presley's" SPINOUT"
For everyone who will be coming to Hillsborough in the next few weeks please stop by the Orange County Historical Museum ay 201 N. From Southern Motorsports September 1968.The last Hillsboro race
Great job Ray.I am as excited as you.To actually have a car that ran and finished 5th in the final race at at Hillsborough is going to be fantastic!! Thanks to everyone involved in making this possible
Dave
I spoke with Frank and he doesn't know of any Paul Sawyer connection. The Richmond newspaper article ia a total mystery.
Dave I haven't seen anything about Paul Sawyer promoting a race there.Frank would probably know. All I can do is give the page from that October race program and I see nothing anywhere in that book that mentions Paul Sawyer.Maybe this will help.
