1981 Late Model Sportsman Records

Stock Car Racing History

in the media guides there are track and state championships listed, individual results from National championship events would be neat BUT that is a tall order Thomas K. Craig said:
Got some more good news. Its very well possible I will know some info for 1974 and 1976 LMS seasons. Keep your fingers crossed. Im on the job to recover as much info as I can. Paul, I knew there were state championships that LMS had and track titles also but when I saw those records I felt what an amazing racing series. I have all that info for 1981 LMS season (final point standings) for state and local championships that I will post in a couple of days.

Early track experiences?

Stock Car Racing History

As a fan I have been to a lot of NASCAR sanctioned tracks in the Southeast, My home track Beltsville was a gem, and when I got out of high school i was wrenching in the limited and then the late model division. Only way to spend a weekend, Friday at Beltsville and Saturday at Manasas, Va. Old Dominion speedway. Also went to South Boston, Richmond, and yes i did Martinsville for the Cardianl and Dogwood classics, that was a Short track trwat those classics at Martinsville. I was in attendance at the last GN (cup race) in Maryland on May 16, 1971 At Beltsville Bobby Issac won follwed by Boby Allison and James Hylton. I can still see it like it was yesterday. Also been to Charlotte ( have trouble with that Lowe's crap) and Daytona, my favorite race of Speedweeks was the "300" Remember in 75 Ivan Baldwin driving his home built 66 Chevelle giving the ex-cup cars a fit before Ingram won it. and in 79 that firey wreck that still scares n me when i think of it today.Had fun in the LMS division till 81, I knew when NASCAR made it BUSCH and it was a touring series the short track racing I loved was no more, the politics set in and the fun gone. i could write forever on my experiences on those short tracks and the people i met, will never forget, memories are good

Modern Media Hype Vs Real Genuine Old Time Happenings!

Uncategorized

Hi Nick! You arew right I was at Martinsville in 77 and Paul Radford won both the LMS and Modified halvess of the Cardinal classic. So Kyle Bush won twice in a day, "BIG DEAL" Dave Dion won the "MILK BOWL" which was 3-50 lap segments once I tell ya nothing ticks me off more than "ASSCAR"!!!!!!!!!!!! and back in those days the cars did not have air conditioning and power steering, so "GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!! could you see these guys running a 50 -60 race schedule like they use to?

Once upon a time, the Cup season started out West

Stock Car Racing History

That was when NASCAR was fun, especially enjoyed the LMS and Grand American series running the road course at Riverside, Enjoyed keeping tabs on Ivan Baldwin running there, he was my West Coast LMS hero, i thiunk they could have 1 more road course on the schedule, why not run the Daytona roadcourse, or there is a good road course in Topeka, Kansas, but why would they do that?

At one time we all "LOVED" NASCAR but they have taken the fun and the fan out of the scene, I was into NASCAR LMS from 73-81 and back then it was fun but then i became disenchanted with (ASSCAR) now it is just about the money., They don't care abou the fans that supported them in the pre 82 days! I just try to remember the old days when it was enjoyable!!!!!!
