Boris & The Biff

General

Ragan shouldn't have tried to push Boris off the track. Boris held his ground and stayed in the gas and we have a terrible wreck. It was the last lap and I see no fault on Boris's part. Lift or stay in the gas on the last lap... whats your call.

Biffle didn't handle this well.

"Not Taking Any Kurt Busch Lip," Says Jimmie Johnson

General

Ditto, Johnson started it with the contact out of turn one and Busch delivered his dislike of the move. That should have been the end of it.

None sound very good to me, but that is because I don't drink. I'm a stick in the mud. No drinking or smoking and I prefer not to be around it if possible. I would think most places of interest close around 5:00 so I don't know what my options are. Thanks for the info, guess I'll sit in the room and read. Great book for anyone interested in the Civil War and Gettysburg, reat The Killer Angels.

In Charlotte, what to do, what to do?

General

I'm in Charlotte for ESRI training and I was hoping some of you could share with me some lesser known sights or places to visit while I'm here. I've been to the HOF, Sam Bass and Concord Mill. Any ideas? Thought about possible shop visits but I don't think they allow visitors after 5:00.

I'm bored out of my mind after class. I hope someone has some ideas. Thanks

Ex Footballer Bubba Smith Passed; "Stole" My Wife's Seat at Talladega

General

"awful movie "Stroker Ace".

I agree, that was one of the worst racing movies since the Elvis Presley days. I can still picture the driver of "The 10 Car", Aubrey James, wearing shop safety goggles in the movie instead of racing goggles. Sooooo stupid.

1986 Hayride 500

Stock Car Racing History

Where did the years go? Seems like it happened only a few years ago. The Hay Ride got a good bit of coverage in my area and I remember the need for hay was wide spread. As today, therewas no better way to get the word out about a need than to enlist the help of high profile people to spread the word, and NASCAR folks did what they could. Thanks for the memories.

Lennie Pond Slept in Racecar, Won 1978 Talladega 500

General

I remember a race at Talladega around 82 or 83 when Lennie drove for James Hylton. I was helping the crew at this race and I remember it was very hot. The #48 was having a typical day, nothing to brag about and in the last 15 laps I noticed Johnny Davis, (the same Johnny Davis that owns JD Motorsports that Mike Wallace drives for) who was the crew chief for Hylton, stand up and climb on top of the pit wall and began to wave for us to get ready for a pit stop. Lennie brought the car to the pits and it was smoking and running very rough. As Johnny and the crew looked under the hood for any sign of trouble, I looked at Lennie setting in the car. He was red faced andexhalsted and looked like he had reached his limit due to the heat. I motioned and askif he wanted a drink and then carried 2 cups to the window. Before I could step back he had emptied both. The car was done for the day and so was Lennie. He was still very graciousand took the time to review with Johnny what the car was running like before he walked to the drivers lounge to cool off. He drove part of that season forHylton and was always easy to get along withand a dang good driver. Very nice man.
