Darrel did not remember the race until I asked him about it. He said he thinks he was driving your dad's backup car owned by Reed Shaw. He said he thought it was maroon with a black top. Then he mentioned a car owned by someone else that he may have been driving. If he remembers any more he is going to give me a call.
I saw him yesterday at the NC Autosports Hall of Fame in Mooresville.
I was there working on the Billy Hagan owned #44 driven by Terry Labonte. My wife Patsy and I were standing close to the exit of pit road at the front stretch pits.
They cut out a lot of the footage of the rescue people removing him from the bus. It took quite a while longer to get him out than it appears to take on the film.

I am familiar with the area. I don't see how the number of customers that would actually be traveling through this area would be enough to keep much of a convenience store going. They are right though there is not much really close by but there is a fairly large truck stop at I -77 within five miles or so from Kyle's shop. If they build it I don't believe they will come.
