GASTONIA, NC With the 2012 racing season just around the corner, Carolina Speedway is busy preparing for the running of the 12 ^th Annual Carolina Clash Skyler Trull Memorial.

The event will take place over two days, March 9-10. The headline on the card on Saturday night March 10 ^th will be the 40 lap Carolina Clash main event that pays $4,000 to win. Also on the card will be a $3,000 to win NDRA Road Show feature event for the GM Performance Late Models. The Open Wheel Modifieds will battle for a $1,000 to win. Street Stocks will also be on hand for a $500 to win event.

Mt. Holly, NCs Chris Ferguson is the defending champion of the event.

Friday night March 9 will see heat racing and qualifying. There will be a Four Cylinder feature on Friday along with a main event for the Renegade division. The NDRA LMs and the Open Wheel Modifieds will qualify and run heat races to set their fields for Saturdays show.

Friday night March 9 the pit ticket booth will open at 4:00 with racing at 8:00. General admission ticket office will open at 5:00. Saturday night March 10 the pit ticket booth will open at 3:00 PM with racing at 7:00 pm. The general admission ticket booth will open at 4:30.

South Boston Speedway's 'Super Bowl' of racing will open the 2012 season on Saturday, March 10

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. The hype and excitement is building toward the 2012 season at South Boston Speedway.

The 2011 champions at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval have officially been crowned and everyone's sights are now set on claiming an elite championship at America's Hometown Track in the new season.

The 2012 season will begin on Saturday, March 10 when South Boston Speedway will host its Super Bowl of racing the NASCAR Whelen Late Model 300 presented by Danville Toyota.

The NASCAR Whelen Late Model 300 presented by Danville Toyota will feature the best of the best Late Model Stock Car Division competitors in the region in an event that will have the season-opening appeal of the Daytona 500 for short track competitors and fans.

Formerly, the NASCAR Whelen Late Model 300 presented by Danville Toyota has closed out the season at South Boston Speedway, but the decision was made to move the event to the start of the campaign in 2012 to bring added excitement to the start of the new season for competitors and fans.

A total of 17 events are scheduled at America's Hometown Track in 2012 and season tickets for all of the exciting action in the upcoming season are currently on sale and priced at only $150.

South Boston Speedway's upcoming campaign will be highlighted by NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing action in the Late Model Stock Car Division, Limited Sportsman Division, Budweiser Pure Stock Division and MAD Modifieds.

The dates for NASCAR Whelen All American Series action at South Boston Speedway for the Late Model Stock Car Division, Limited Sportsman Division and Budweiser Pure Stock Division include April 7, May 5, May 12, May 26, June 16, July 14, July 21, Aug. 4, Sept. 1 and Sept. 15.

America's Hometown Track will also be the scene for a ton of special events in 2012 as well.

South Boston Speedway will host the touring PASS Super Late Model Series for three events in upcoming season. Those events are slated for March 24, June 9, and Aug. 18. All three of those events will also feature twin races for the competitors in the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

The annual 200-lap FindItHere.com NASCAR Whelen Late Model Stock Car race and the annual Fireworks Extravaganza will be held on Tuesday, July 3. That event will also feature a 100-lap race for the Limited Sportsman Division and a 50-lap race for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division.

The NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour will visit the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval on Saturday, April 14. That event will also feature twin races for the NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division.

South Boston Speedway officials have also announced that the Modified Affordable Division (MAD) would be competing at the historic four-tenths mile asphalt oval on five dates in 2012.

The MAD Modifieds are scheduled to compete at South Boston Speedway on April 7, May 5, May 26, June 9 and July 21.

South Boston Speedway officials also announced plans to have a return visit of the popular Monster Truck Show in 2012. A date for that event will be released later.

Florence Motor Speedway Ready to kick off 2012 Season
Timmonsville, SC -- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE


Timmonsville, SC (March 3rd, 2012) It is almost time to return to the four tenths of a mile speedplant, the Florence Motor Speedway! Thats right, racing is just around the corner and fans and drivers can see the off season coming to a close very soon.

The action begins on March 31st, with opening night for all divisions. The Limited Late Models, Super Stock, Street Stock, Stock 4 Cylinders, Bombers and Cruzer Bruzers will all be running that Saturday night.

Pit gates open at 1:00 PM, with rotating practice throughout the afternoon. Racing will begin at 8:00 PM with heat races for the Super Stock, Street Stock and Stock 4 Cylinders.

We plan to continue on the success of 2011, and fans and drivers can expect some of the best racing around to continue in 2012. said track owner and promoter Charlie Powell.

Admission to the grandstand will be just ten dollars. The ten dollar pit pass will be delayed for the moment as a few issues are being worked out. We will announce when it will return at a later date.

Open practice for all divisions will be March 25th & 26th from 11 AM to 6 PM each day.

The track has also purchased a bar code scanner and program that will allow officials to track what tires the competitors are using. This will eliminate the possibility of somebody competing without a tire that was not issued to their car for the race.

"I feel this will be one of the best investments we have made in recent years. To keep a level field of race cars."

"The scanner should eliminate any doubt that a racer is getting beat on tires." continued Powell.

The track is also stocked with over eight hundred like new tires.

We are also excited to welcome back the Super Trucks to track in 2012. They will return on May 26th, August 4th and September 15th.

The go-karts will continue to race year round every Saturday and admission will continue at ten dollars.
