Hey Tim, didn't even notice the Petty # of Championships mistake. I heard them talking about it, but thought nothing of it. Jimmie's not my favorite driver, but I respect him so much for winning 53 races and 5 straight championships all in 8 years in Cup competition.

Carls antics in Pheonix

Current NASCAR

I couldn't agree more Johnny! Just another reason why I think he one of the nicest guys in the sport. When I see guys like Jr who grabs items and signs them while he's walking, not even looking or talking to fans...that's just pitiful. They're the reason he gets billions of $$$$ every year. One of my favorite storys about Carl is in 2008 before the Atlanta race (when it was still in October) That Friday, he went to the Aflac Children's center in ATL to visit with the kids and display his new Aflac car. Almost before it was time to leave, a young boy named Dalton came up and gave Carl a "friendship necklace". Every time kids had a cancer treatment, they would get one colored bead. Dalton's necklace was pretty full. Anyway, he gave it to Cousin Carl to wear during the Atlanta race as a "good luck charm". Well guess what, Edwards won the race. And during the victory lane celebration and pictures, he unzipped his suit and showed off his necklace. (he wore it under his firesuit during the race. Monday morning, Carl went back to Aflac to give Dalton his necklace back. He told Carl to keep it for the rest of the year and maybe win the Championship. While wearing it during the last 4 races, he won 3, everytime he showed off the necklace in victory lane. So that brought Edwards with 4 wins in the last 5 races. Anyway, that is my favorite Carl Edwards story and I'm sticking to it. That's the reason I think that Carl is one of the nicest men out there!-Cody

Well the Chase tightens heading to the finale

General

After a fair points day for the top 3 in points, Denny Hamlin, who finished 12th, is the leader in points. Jimmie Johnson finished 6th and is 2nd in the points and is 15 points behind Hamlin. Let's not forget Harvick who finished 7th and is 3rd in points 45 points behind Hamlin. It's anybody's game now with one race to go, all I gotta say to them is don't mess up!

On another note, after Carl Edwards broke a 70-race win-less streak, and after he performed his signature backflip, Carl headed into the stands and ran up several rows to mingle with the fans! Some may not like him, but to me, that's just another example of Carl Edwards is one of the nicest and gentlest person in the sport!

STOCK CAR RACING WAS NEVER MENTIONED

General

Your Welcome Legend! I've never seen one of those medals, but I've heard they are very rare. My uncle has a purple heart and a few others, but I think the purple heart is really cool!
