Ted Christopher Wins Opening Night At New Smyrna
General
Excellent job TC,,,,,,,,,,
Wonder if Jeremy Mayfield will be sitting in on this one???
Yeah Humpy would be a good choice...
Darrell Waltrip is a very intelligent man but is also an employee of FOX Sports. Personally I would rather read his blog than hear him talk. But even he is clueless to think or rather state that restrictor plates are the only way to deal with the cars at Daytona and Talladega. Waltrip recently wrote this in his internet column. Maybe DW is not supposed to rock the boat as he is part of the media.
NASCAR does see that fans and drivers have been turned off by their brand in recent years hence the spoiler coming back. They need to finish the job by fixing the front of these cars with the elimination of the splitter and bump stops. There is a real possibility that smaller engines will be used in the near future which could eliminate the plate issue. Fuel injection is coming as well which will also be a better way to control horsepower while still giving throttle responce to the drivers and this can be a step in the right direction.
NASCAR does not want someone stinking up their marquee event with a runaway and the plate is the best way to achieve that. Untill the sanctioning body gives the teams and drivers a car they they can work on and really drive we will probably see more of the same at Daytona and Talladega. The Cup Series and Nationwide Series in general has lost it's excitement in recent years for many reasons and the biggest one is how the cars are regulated.
If NASCAR wants to go back to it's Root's they have a lot of work to do.
Brian,
Make plans now to attend our Love Chevrolet Columbia Speedway RacersReunion April 14 -17. You'll get to meet thousands of RR supporters.
Brian Janik said:That's sad to hear that Darlington has no intrest in expanding their racing heritage. Darlington is in a hotbed of racing heritage. I would be the first inline to meet you, Bobby Williamson, jr miller, burt myers, andy towler, etc. Maybe Bowman Grey would host a Vintage weekend? Racers reunion obviously has a huge following, now all you need to find a place to bring eveyone togeather,,,in person.

Some the Darlington staff there are members here. We went to their first festival...and made the decision not to attend the last one for a variety of reasons. We're always open to supporting any event or group that holds preserving our racing heritage as its primary goal. They have the facility and the show that should attract large crowds...but they have failed to do that both years. I think their problem is rather obvious....but I won't get into that for now.
Brian Janik said:Jeff, would you consider contacting Chris Browning at Darlington Speedway and incorporate your idea during their Vintage weekend for 2011?
