Dick Trickle commits suicide
Stock Car Racing History
Thanks for posting, Dave.
The 911 tape has been released and posted by TMZ and others. If its posted on here it won't be by me.
Andy, maybe it could be the "shock & awe" of the situation. Also many times people will have the feeling of "Could I have done something to have prevented Dick Trickle from doing this?" With suicide being so prevalent these days, many emotions come into play. Then it becomes a sensational news story. So sad. (Of course these are just my thoughts.)
Thanks for posting this link...great article about a great person. Just wish that he had reached out to someone and received the help he so desperately needed. So sad...so final.
Jo Ard said to please send condolences from her and Sam. They knew him well and thought highly of him as a race driver.
So sad...my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
Duane, a few years ago I tried to find some video of Sam Ard especially the 1983 Millertime 300 which he won. I was told that NASCAR had someone go around and gather all video from the racetracks. After a number of calling around I was told to contact G Ramsey with NASCAR Communications (gramsey@nascar.com). He was very helpful with my obtaining a DVD of the 1983 Millertime 300 for $50.00. Along with the DVD was a letter instructing me not reproduce any of it in any form. I was just glad to get it for my own use though I'd hoped to be able to put parts on you tube for Sam's fans. In the meantime an uneditedVHS tape of the race surfaced which I also have.
Patsy, Your frustration and disappointment is understandable. It is indeed a shame to see the deteriorationof such a fine facility especially when it is considered your "hometrack". I do hope there will be a meeting of the minds and things can turn around. I would love to visit the Fayetteville Motor Speedway sometime in the future. Good luck to all of you in your endeavors. ~Jan~
This is so true, Dave. Alcohol and other drug abuse have no boundaries in today's society. It is sad.
