Thank you so much for pointing out these films! These are absolute treasures.
If you do a search for "Julian Buesink" it brings them all up.

I found this one he had posted years ago that he couldn't identify. It's actually Spantanburg Fairgrounds around 1950! I can finally see the true colors of some classic cars of Cotton Owens, Buddy Shuman, Frank Mundy, Fireball Roberts, Buck Baker, etc.
These aerials show an original 1/2 mile dirt track (1948 - 1953?) and the later 1/4 mile asphalt track (1954 - 1956?). The location was actually in Madison Heights, VA across the river from Lynchburg.

Nice find! I wasn't aware of the Buck Mathis Memorial trophy.
I love the really old stuff. Thanks for posting these.
Live Oak Drive, Rockfish. Right near the intersection of Philippi Church Road and Rockfish Road.
I have doubts this is B & S. It looks like it's only a 1/8 - 1/10 mile, which would be more of a go-kart track. What details do you have about B & S? Length? What did they race?
Has anyone here heard of an old race track in Pinnacle, NC right on the border of the town of Pilot Mountain? The track was right off Old Hwy 52 on "Old Race Track Road", a Pinnacle address. It appears to be about 1/2 mile in length. I've look all over but haven't found a word about it.
From Oct. 20, 1949
Congratulations on being smoke free for 6 years, Dave. Good story too, you've lived an interesting life. I've always had mixed feelings over R.J. Reynolds. On one hand, tobacco consumption is a killer and I've always disliked cigarettes. On the other hand R.J.R. practically built Winston-Salem.
As a related note, The iconic Reynolds building in downtown W-S has been sold by R.J.R. and is being transformed into a high class Hotel. I actually think it's a great thing because the Hotel company will keep much of the classic decor and honor it's past.
