Ralph Earnhardt Drove for Wood Brothers?

Stock Car Racing History

This photo below also illustrated the Bob Zeller story about Gray London and the Earnhardts. It shows Gray in front of his business in the 1970s.

Stock Car Racing History

You may be exactly right about that, Jimmy.

Here's a quote from Gray London in a 2011 Bob Zeller blog regarding not always having Dainty Maid on Ralph's car as sponsor:

"I sponsored Ralph's car from the time that I met him in 1964 until the time that he died, and I sponsored Dale's car after that," London said. "You may see pictures of the cars with some other name on it, too. That's because I told them, 'If somebody will pay you to put their name on it, do it.' Dainty Maid didn't need any advertising. You'd never see a food products company like mine on a race car. It was to help them out. It was to help Ralph out because he was helping me, he was building and maintaining my car."

Ralph Earnhardt Drove for Wood Brothers?

Harlow, I'm guessing this same story ran in the Roanoke paper which at the time was owned by Landmak Communications, but if you haven't seen it, Dustin Long did a nice 2011 piece on Glen. Here's a link to the article as it appeared in the Norfolk Virginian-Pilot - and it references Ralph Earnhardt driving for the Woods.

Don in a #66 is listed as the 6th place finisher in the 1977 Ascot Winston West main event footage I have posted at the link below. You can take a look at the main event near the end of the video and see if you spot his car:

Racing History Minute, June 17, 1955

Stock Car Racing History

Thanks, Tim. I have met some great folks from Rochester in my lifetime - and growing up in Richmond, our fiercest baseball rival in the AAA International League was always the Rochester Red Wings!

Many of us spent many a dollar over the years with KODAK and a digital image will never be quite the same.

Appreciate today's History Minute. Been a very busy day here and now the storms are approaching.
