A Roll of Duct Tape Might Fix That Problem

Current NASCAR

My grandson told me, one day, that "silence is golden, but duct tape is silver". I told him duct tape comes if all colors now, every black and white checkered. He duct taped my mouth shut with BLUE duct tape!!!!!! Really hurt pulling it off my lips.

The Way We Were - Bristol 1965 - Sleeping in a Plymouth Belvedere

Stock Car Racing History

Thanks, Dave. I really enjoyed reading that. To think Monte and I were at the same race apparently. I was at Bristol in 1964 and HAD to go in August (I think it was) in 1965 because the Mopars were allowed to return to competition. It is nothing like it was then. In fact, thinking back, I actually went the first time in 1962 and it seems it was nothing. But the drive through the mountains to get there was pretty! I appreciate you watching out for me Dave.

Rim Ridin' Rowdy Ropes Thunder Valley Pole

Current NASCAR

I just heard the news. Number 10 has been set up by NASCAR to prove the Gen-6 cars CAN pass.

Rim Ridin' Rowdy Ropes Thunder Valley Pole

Current NASCAR

Thanks, Dave. I love the way you did the graphics. My condolences to Bruton Smith that number 10 didn't get the pole so he could get all that pre-race publicity.

relay for life

Stock Car Racing History

Dave, I didn't know about your wife, but I am so happy to know she is a 12 year survivor. You know it's funny, but my wife, Ann, is a cancer survivor as well. She was diagnosised, several years ago, with melanoma and had two surgeries for it and it was touch and go for like three years. I try never to think of that because it scares me so. Two years ago this June, we lost a very close friend, had just turned 60, from melanoma they thought was cured and my fear came back. I put it in the back of my mind and surpress it until someone mentions something like this. Ann and I are fortunate. Thanks for sharing, Dave.

Stock Car Racing History

Let me get back to you as the date gets closer. I'll need to get some more information but having lost a father, a brother, and aunt and uncle and many, many friends to cancer, I would like to participate. Thanks, Jack.

Incredibly interesting! Wonder if they will be fined by NASCAR for actions detrimental to the sport? Just a thought.

Do You Remember What a Big Deal This Was?

General

Andy, I really appreciate that recap of history. See, I had forgotten those facts and figures about the economy but then I was a kid then and I guess I didn't think about such things. Seems today is sort of a throw back to those years of the 50s. I really enjoyed your comments.

Do You Remember What a Big Deal This Was?

General

Never knew all the details Dave, but I remember when they first came out. First one I saw was a 1958 Dodge. Duel headlights and tail fins! Those were the days. I really enjoyed the pictures.

Randy, I have always heard that 1958 was the worst year Detroit ever had. I have a story to back that up but it involves a Ford and a race track so I'll save it for later.
