Remember how you felt?

General

Unfortunately, I do not know how to add that e-mail to the site. I just have not learned things like that. I have someone else upload all my pictures because I don't know how to do that either.
Thank each of you for sharing those memories. Johnny, you were the closest of all to the actual happen. You saw the smoke for real, not on tv.
I had actually written a very long blog about that day was posted it on here. I was going back through and reading it and decided to delete it entirely because it was getting far deeper than I felt like posting here. But,this is a proper forum for posting such thoughts. Something about race fans, especially we older fans, is deeply patriotic. Watch The National Anthem being played at NASCAR events, NFL, MLB and other sporting events. I have only seen a very few at the race tracks not remove their hats and put their hands over their hearts. NFL and MLB folks seem to care less. Watch and see what I mean.
Next year is the 10th anniversary. Why the 10th is more special than the first, third, ninth, or whatever, I don't know. But I have heard that they are planning very special observances on the 10th anniversary.

Remember how you felt?

General

Remember how you felt September 11, 2001?? I hope so. Never forget that we are Americans, we prevail in the end no matter what, no matter who. I'll be wearing red, white and blue today, and remembering all the times America has saved the world. Now it's time to save ourselves. Remember. Never forget to ask God to bless America.

Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway

General

This is totally upsetting, disgusting, and wrong. People in government these days seem to epitomize ignorance. Or maybe it's stupidity. I hear education is a cure for ignorance but there is no cure for stupidity. It would seem Nashville, of all places, would honor history and tradition. Who is the Mayor there? A descendent of carpetbaggers would be my guess.Sorry, Winston, I can't afford the trip to Nashville, but if I could, I would be vocal as to this injustice. Good luck to you and keep us posted on developments.

BRUTON SMITH WANTS TO RENAME HOMESTEAD

Historic Speedways and Ghost Tracks

Hi folks! I've already read a post from one of the NASCAR "in the know" folks from Charlotte, although I can't recall which one (my memory is getting really faulty these days), that said NASCAR is re-thinking the Homestead season ending event and may well reschedule it for the week right after Daytona in February. My only concern with that concept is that it makes too much sense to actually occur to those in high places in Daytona. As for Las Vegas being the end-all, I'm not sure I especially like that, but then it is very obvious that my opinion counts for NOTHING.Tim

NOISE MAKER IS AT IT AGAIN I SEE

Stock Car Racing History

Let me be clear! (you hear that alot these days if you listen to the news). Johnny Mallonee did not, at Columbia Speedway or anywhere else, rattle my cage! Such an event is not likely to ever happen within the confines of planet earth.Tim

NOISE MAKER IS AT IT AGAIN I SEE

Stock Car Racing History

Once more, "MOUTH MALLONEE" is spreading rumors. It is best for all who read these posts of his to accept the fact that Johnny does not always tell it like it is, he tells it the way he sees it! Johnny's version of things and the truth have very little in common.

COULDNT PASS THIS ONE UP BECAUSE IT WILL RAISE THE HAIR ON SOME WE KNOW

Vintage Oval and Road Course Racing

Harvey, I have no problem sitting at a table with Johnny, signing autographs or not. He does have a habit of rubbing people the wrong way, but that's just Johnny. You have to try to overlook that. Just consider the source and let it ride. You set up the table, get us some Sharpies and I know "The Legend" is in. You'll have to ask Johnny about The Master.
