Need some help locating former driver Richard Luther.

Administrative

Jerry, he is approximately 68 to 70. He lived in West Columbia but supposedly moved to Lexington a few years ago. The number I got out of the phone book was 520-4082 but the answering machine says that is the Smith residence. I appreciate your help, Jerry. I really need to get ahold of him quickly.

Need some help locating former driver Richard Luther.

Administrative

Richard Luther, who raced out of Columbia in the 60s and maybe even into the 70s, is being inducted into the Hall of Fame in Augusta by the Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society. It is my job to contact Richard and give him some information and get some information from him for the program. If any of you know how to contact him, please let me know.

I have tried the number listed in the phone book for him and it is answered by a machine identifying the residence as "the Smith residence". I have sent him an e-mail through RR but he doesn't appear to have been on the site since 2009. I have requested to be his Friend on FB but he hasn't responded to that request yet.

Time is of the essence so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

TIM

The New 9-Team NASCAR Race Team Alliance

Current NASCAR

I have read a ton of opinions and observations on this subject today, including NASCAR's cautious response. Looks like this may be an event NASCAR is going to have some difficulty handling. Very interesting comments from a number of sources.

Thanks, Dave, for putting up the post. Hope you are doing well.

RACE FANS, EMAIL, TWEET, WRITE LETTERS!! LET NASCAR KNOW THAT YOU WANT 25 NASCAR OF HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES INSTEAD OF 5 NASCAR OF HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES EACH YEAR.

Stock Car Racing History

Dennis, you are on point with this comment. One of the biggest reasons somany "core" fans of the sport hate the Hall of Fame and refuse to visit is exactly that reason. They are leaving out some of the men who should have already been inducted. They induct D.W., Dale Jarrett, Rusty Wallace, and Bill Elliott, all of whom belong in there at some point, but not now. Not now when Raymond Parks remains out along with so many more of the pioneers.

As much as I wish your proposal would work with NASCAR, I have doubts. It seems the more the fans want changes to certain things, the more NASCAR resists. When NASCAR finds something the fan support which NASCAR can incorporate to their advantage it is usually done. Thanks for thinking about such important things as your post makes.

TNT's COUNT DOWN TO GREEN INTERVIEWED RETIRING MRN RADIO BARNEY HALL FOR TOTAL TIME: 4MIN.30SEC. (Cut Short for commercial)

Current NASCAR

I saw the interview Dennis. Great interview but it could have gone on another 30 minutes and I would have stayed right there. That was the best part of the count down to "rain". Barney Hall was the man I listened to all the time before television entered the picture. Then the past two years or so I was still listening to him while watching a muted TV so as not to have to endure the Waltrips. I understand Barney is going to continue doing specials for MRN but he won't be broadcasting races. He was certainly a huge part of my life for so many years. God bless the man.

OK, TMC CHASE, TIME FOR YOU TO GO TO WORK

Administrative

Dateline: July 4, 2014, Columbia, SC. I slept late today. Didn't get up until 7:30. By the time I signed in to RR I was expecting to read what TMC Chase contributed as to what happened in Daytona 30 years ago today. Waiting on you Chase!!! Have a great Fourth.

Honor the past, embrace the present, dream for the future!

HOME PAGE STORY ON FIREBALL ROBERTS

Stock Car Racing History

Yes, I am self-promoting my own article on the Home Page, not as a way to brag on myself, but to call attention to the 50th anniversary of the passing of Fireball Roberts on July 2, 1964. I hope some of you will take time to read it and, hopefully, add you own thoughts to the article.

Thanks.

Richard Petty Drives His '67 Plymouth Again

Stock Car Racing History

Simon, thank you so much for posting that video. Took me back a few years for sure. I really like that Plymouth and watched Richard win a few in that one. I notice he still sits the same way he always did when he raced, up on that wheel. Was really great to see that. Thank you.
