A Bikini at the Races?? maybe ------if you are a Go Daddy girl

I have always regarded Danica as like the AnnaKournikova of Motorsports. Pretty and talented but cannot reach the top.

Again?? That was my reaction to reading the headline. Jeez what are they doing to the engines there???
Car and Track was before my time but I remember back when Speed Channel was Speedvision they would show old Grand Prixs, documentaries and Car and Track. But that stuff was usually on very late at night. I found alot of old Car and Track episodes on youtube including one of my old home track. Car and Track actually filmed the 1968 International Classic at the Oswego Speedway. Some of this stuff is a great piece of history.
Anyone remember the show Car and Track? I know Dale Jr had his show back in the day where he edited them like pop up videos. But I found this beauty and was wondering is there anyplace I could get uncut or unedited copies of Car and Track episodes?
1975 Dogwood 500 Part 1
1975 Dogwood 500 Part 2: at 1:51, man, sure have come a long way with fuel cells
Ray Hendrick did double duty racing in the Sportmans and Modifieds. Great to see Hall of Famer Richie Evans in this too.
One of my relatives worked for Kodak. If he was alive he would be very sad to see this. I can remember driving past all the plants in Rochester where they made the film and other things photography related. I do not know how that town will survive. They got Xerox and Bausch & Lomb still. But amazing how after all the contributions of Kodak and its dead. Upstate NY is dying. It seems like since the mid 90s factories and companies have closed. It is indeed the rust belt now.
Well here is my top 10 list of Coolest drivers. No actors. Just real drivers.
1.)Dale Earnhardt- From dirt tracks, outlaw tracks to the top of the NASCAR world. He started from nothing
2.)Richard Petty-The Cowboy hat, the shades and his career 200 wins. been through much of NASCAR's existence. Been though some of the most vicious wrecks and has survived.
3.)AJ Foyt- One time he won two races in one day. One on pavement and the other on dirt. Could win in anything with 4 wheels. One of the toughest and most hard headed drivers. Survived in a very dangerous era of racing.
4.)Niki Lauda- Is burned alive, given the last rights and awakes from a coma to go back to racing and wins the Championship. Still has the scars from that horrible day. Enough said.
5.)Cale Yarborough- Has some funny daredevil stories. Led every lap at Bristol. Never used a relief driver
6.)Junior Johnson- The bootlegger. Pardoned by Reagan
7.)James Hunt- Indeed he was like a hippie. That free spirit of the 70s
8.)Gilles Villeneuve- Raced hard and on the ragged edge everytime. His ability with a snowmobile translated into some insane and unreal driving moves in F1. If it rained, watch out. He was the fastest in the rain
9.)Tony Stewart- Like Foyt I think he is a hard headed and interesting character in NASCAR. I like how he always wants to race. Does not matter what it is.
10.)Curtis Turner- The stories off the track are amusing.
Hill made the list??? Seriously??? James Dean??? He did not race that much. Common. I would say Steve McQueen should be ranked 2nd. Earnhardt should have been ranked 1. Petty should have been on the list or perhaps Curtis Turner or AJ Foyt. Mario Andretti may be great, but he was not that cool.
Here ya go. I always like to watch old races on Youtube during the off season.
1983 Busch Series Coca Cola 200 @ North Carolina Motor Speedway
Winn Dixie today only has stores in Alabama,Mississippi,Louisiana, Georgia and Florida. They reduced their size alright. Winn Dixies in Florida seem to be located in more rural areas it seems. Here Publix seems to be all the rage here in Florida. I do not think Winn Dixie would sponsor in NASCAR like they did before. That was back when they were big.
Mark Martin?? I know I said some things about him before, but if he has a good enough car he can be a threat.
For me the first race track I ever went to and a big favorite of mine is the Oswego Speedway in Oswego, NY. Home of the Supermodifiieds. The Big "O" or "The Steal Palace" as it is called was just down the road from where I lived. Where else can you see some of the fastest cars on a short track? Just talking about it I can smell the burning rubber, the methanol and Hoffman Hot Dogs. Can remember seeing many great Supermodified and Modified races. The racing there was always fun to watch. Something about walking into the covered grandstands and feeling the cars roar by you was great. First race I went to was at age 9 and I was hooked. From there I became a race fan and have been one ever since. For Christmas one year my parents got me Oswego Speedway Season tickets and my Saturday nights were always full of racing. Of all the tracks this one I felt you were very close to the action. One time I actually watched a race from the infield. That was something. I can remember going to alot of big races there. ISMA Winged Supermodifieds. NASCAR Modifieds, Midgets and at one time ASA Late Models. Classic Weekend I always looked forward to that weekend. One of the biggest races there. Can remember watching alot of greats race there. I can remember Joe Gosek, Bentley Warren,Eddie Bellinger, Steve Gioia, Pat Abold, Mike Muldoon and Doug Didero. Occasionally the Modifieds came to town and I can remember pulling for Lee Sherwood. My Uncle knew him real well. But man, I remember names like Jan Leaty, Tim Magnus, Tom Baldwin, Mike McLaughlin, George Kent, Jeff Fuller, Rick Fuller and many others. The Mods always put on a great show too.
But across NY State I loved dirt track racing too. Brewerton, Fulton, Can Am, Rolling Wheels, Cayuga County Fairgrounds and Rolling Wheels always put on great shows. I always looked forward to the summer to see races. Just cannot see the kind of racing here in Florida.
