I scour the web from time to time looking for any history on this track w/ no results, the exception being the winners in the "Who won" archive. My grandad, George Minter, was the flagman there for a time. forgive me for not knowing the specifics of his time there. My dad can only vaguely recall the approximate location of the track, which we feel is off of amherst pkwy & lakeview drive about 2 miles northeast of lynchburg, across the river. Would love to hear from anyone w/ information or pics from this lost jewel of the 50's and 60's. thanks

Hello,I live about three miles from the old track. The track is in Amhest County in Madison Heights,Va.Shrader Field was the track named after the owner judge Shrader. Then people started coming from all over the country and one man said please name the track Lynchburg Speedway . They said they knew where Lynchburg was. Then people started calling it Lynchburg Speedway at Shrader Field. Drivers at the old track was Glen Wood, Rex White,Fireball Roberts,Lee Pettyand many more names you would know.Bill Mangum of Danville,Va. daddy drove Shrader Field.I have newspaper cliping, picture, I help you if I can.Email me with any question. It's a few old drivers still living here.ThanksHarlow Reynolds1980 Easley AveLynchburg,Va,---24501hreynolds@earthlink.net.

was i right about the location? i've been trying to locate it in Virtual Earth, and Google Earth maps, my dad and I think that it was @ the corner of amherst hwy & lakeview drive. if you look on the maps you can vaguely make out a 1/4 oval behind the shopping center on the northeast corner and to the right. we're not sure but that is a possibility.
