Has anyone noticed how many caution flags are thrown for DEBRIS on the track in NASCAR SPRINT SERIES in today's racing ? I don't remember this in years past or "Back In The Day" racing, maybe every once in a while there would be a caution for debris. Seems like now there are at least a half dozen in every race.

You are both right, one is so that they can do more commercials and if someone is going to be lapped they simply throw roll cage padding or a small piece of metal out the window that has been done many times before so they can have a caution. I have seen workers in the past wait until the coast was clear and retrieve such articles with out throwing a caution. But we were all alot younger and dumber in those days.

Mike it's sad to say that the great sport of NASCAR stock car racing has come down to this kind of action. A few years before we lost my father's old driver Butch Torrie he said that he had lost interest in NASCAR when watching a race on TV and seeing a teamate back off to let his partner get his five points for leading a lap. "Butch said that not racing". Back in the day a driver earned every inch of track position that he held.

That is what we used to call a NASCAR yellow. Bunch 'em up now and then. Restarts are exciting and sometimes keeps someone from stinking up the show.
