April 23 - This day in Petty history 1960 - Lee finishes 2nd and Richard finishes 3rd in a 200 lap race at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina.

1961 - Richard wins from the pole in the Richmond 200 at Atlantic Rural Fairgrounds in Richmond VA.

1962 - Richard finishes 5th in a 200 lap race at Bowman-Gray Stadium.

1967 - Richard wins the Virginia 500 at Martinsville.

1972 - Richard wins the Gwyn Staley 400 at North Wilkesboro.

1978 - Richard finishes 3rd in the Virginia 500 at Martinsville.
