Late in the year of 1973 was a sunday afternoon race. Might have been the final race of the year, had two cars in this race Roy Milligan started the 01 car . Neil started a new 68 chevelle #1 that broke early. Put Neil in the car about half way, busted a motor with about 10 to go. Quite sure Ingram won.

Just look at the people in the stands. Not a cup race but a LMS NASCAR show with no cookie cutter cars. Each car different coming out of back yard shops built by unique people with a passion for racing. All those people watching a race on a 5/8ths mile track with mostly local racers also had a passion for the sport. Again SAM ARD what a racer...................

I remember Neil's chevelle being sponsored by a local Dodge dealer from Birmingham. On the trunk was pained,"We sell the best, and race the rest". Butch is right, look at the folks in the stands. . My dad and I would drive from Huntsville to Nashville to see the Southern 300 every year. Many GREAT racers!
