What a great night at Fayetteville Motor Speedway and the Herb Thomas Tribute Late Model race!!! Shawn Harrell won the LM along with the $1500 prize and received a huge Herb Thomas Tribute Trophy. Got to meet Joel Thomas, Herb's son and see the real 1951 and 1953 NASCAR Grand National Champion trophies that Joel brought. My good buddies Ray Lamm and Gene Hobby were on hand to promote the 6th annual Occoneechee Celebration of the Automobile at Hillsborough, NC in Sept. Also, some other local racing legends were on hand; Coy Blue, J.D. Blue, Glenn McDuffie, and other past local racing legends. My son Alex even showed up to enjoy the racing and finally, I got to participate by displaying my car in front of the announcers booth. Awesome night!
Correction, Herb won in `51 and `53

Hey you guys! I am missing out on all that fun you are having up there...LOL!! I did hear there was some great racing going on. I am so glad they hosted this well deserved event honoring Herb Thomas. I did receive texts that night, keeping me posted on how things were going, and got the news that Greg Bass, Jr won as well in Super Stock! And good for Shawn Harrell, that is one trophy I am sure he will forever cherish!! I just love that track......Like I said...I am gonna run up with y'all one of these Saturday nights!!
We missed ya Patsy, a lot of the people your Dad raced against were there, you would have been given VIP treatment. Come out to Carolina Speedway, in Lake View this Saturday for the Bell & Bell races if you can.
Just re-reading the comments, and thinking about how much I missed!!
