Salt Walther...now thats a name I haven't heard in years. If you think about it really is true that auto racing brings some unusual names(ex:Jocko Maggiacomo, Gordon Johncock) and classic 'race driver' names like Mario Anndretti, AJ Foyt, Cale...well you know what I mean...but 'Salt'... that's real unusual. Anyway, great pic!! Don't you just love those Laguna S-3's?

Almost sounds like Salt Water. Yes, there are many curious names in racing, Lake Speed, Smokey Yunick, Cotton Owens, Hully Bunn (1951) Bunkie Blackburn (how many parents name their kid Bunkie?) Crash Carson (1955) now there's a name that does not go with racing. I'm looking some of these up by the way but you've got me interested in this topic again. Makes for a good blog.

but probably the funniest name of all time goes to one of my heroes, who's won more races than anybody on the planet, except maybe steve kinser, & I'm sure he's been ribbed about it all his life,...drum roll, please... Dick Trickle!! Now again, he's a legend behind the wheel...but I don't care who ya are, that's funny right there

Now I have to say again, just in case Mr. Trickle ever sees this, my apologies for that comment, I don't make a habit of making fun of anybody for any reason, but, man, I just can't help it...I think everybody cracks a little smile when they hear his name mentioned, it's certainly a name you won't soon forget
